  Jules Dameron is a well known for her films, the founder of Deaf Women In Film, producer of many ASL songs, great advocate for ASL equality, and most recently, #deaftalent advocate. She earned her Master’s of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Film Production from the University  of Southern California.   Kenya Lowe was crowned Miss Deaf Michigan, in 1999. She was the first Black-American to hold this title in the state of Michigan. She traveled extensively, giving presentations and workshops focused on youth leadership development and community building. She competed in the National Association of the Deaf, Miss Deaf America Pageant in 2000. The Northwest DWU Regional Conference took place on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in Seattle.  A total of 96 women registered for the one-day event. We were excited to have Alana Beal, DWU President and DWU board member Melissa Huber with us!  We had seven volunteer Deaf interpreters/SSPs on site for four DeafBlind guests.    After a continental breakfast, each table did a group activity and then LaRonda Rupp presented the first workshop "Awakening Deaf Women to Self-Love."  Another lively group

Ann Silver, born Deaf, is a founding member of the historic Deaf Art Movement (DAM) of the 1960s and 1970s that preceded the De'VIA movement. Her groundbreaking art depicts the Deaf perspective on the oppression of Deaf children and adults in a variety of areas. Included among her many exhibitions are the Central Intelligence Agency/CIA Gallery (Va.), the Dishman Art Museum (Texas), the Deaf Way International Arts Festival (D.C.) and the First National Deaf Art Touring Exhibit (U.S.A.).

  Deaf Women United became an official organization after a successful national Deaf Women's conference in 1985 in Santa Monica, CA! It was at this very conference that Marcella M.
